In Abu Dhabi, there is a unique island in the world: Yas Island. This artificial island was built for one purpose only: to bring together a huge number of tourist attractions. A water park, theme parks, a Formula 1 circuit, golf courses... Yas Island is a real entertainment paradise for young and older people. Here's a quick overview of all that awaits you on this island, which you can discover during your visit to Abu Dhabi.
YAS ISLAND: THE TOURIST HEART OF ABU DHABI
Yas Island is an island that is off the beaten track from Abu Dhabi city, about 30 minutes by car and 15 minutes from the airport. Yet, with the impressive concentration of landmarks that can be found on this man-made island, it's no wonder that it has become one of the great symbols of entertainment in the UAE.
Among the activities to discover in Dubai that I recommend, I easily place Yas Island, if you stay more than a few days in Dubai. It only takes about 1 hour and a half to get to Abu Dhabi from Dubai. The ideal is even to spend two days in Abu Dhabi: one day to discover the city center & monuments (Abu Dhabi mosque, Louvre museum, palaces,...), and the second day to have fun on Yas Island 🙂
Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
One of the most popular attractions in Yas Island is the famous Ferrari World, a park entirely dedicated to the famous Italian prancing horse car brand. In this park, which is also known as the Ferrari Experience, in addition to seeing the many Ferrari cars on display, you can enjoy more than two dozen attractions, including the world's fastest roller coaster.
Other family-friendly attractions include go-karting, a ride in a miniature replica of Italy, a dynamic cinema and a driving simulator. Ferrari World Abu Dhabi also serves as a concert venue for major events, including the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Yas Waterworld
Yas Waterworld is a water park that opened in 2013 and is one of the largest water parks in the world. This park, perfect for the whole family, is divided into 8 zones and offers a large number of water attractions, 5 of which are exclusive. You can try a unique hydromagnetic slide, take a thrilling free fall, ride an incredible 780 feet (238 meter) long spiral slide, and surf in impressive wave pools.
Yas Waterworld is also in my selection of the best water parks in Dubai (even though it's actually in Abu Dhabi!) 🙂
There are always a lot of people in this water park, tourists and locals alike. So remember to book your places as soon as possible to avoid not being able to buy a ticket on the D-day. During peak season (December to February), there are often no places available left!
THE YAS MARINA CIRCUIT
Yas Island is home to one of the world's premier Formula 1 racing circuits, where the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is held every year. In addition to attending this grand prix and other events such as go-kart and drag racing throughout the year, you can also visit this circuit that circles the Yas Marina, and even drive around the circuit in a race car or alongside a professional driver.
If you're a fan of motorsports or just curious about a behind-the-scenes tour of a Grand Prix circuit, don't miss this opportunity! More information on the different activities available by clicking here.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS ON YAS ISLAND
In addition to these world-renowned tourist attractions, on Yas Island you will also find Abu Dhabi's largest shopping mall, which to this day remains the second largest in the UAE. Yas Mall features over 370 stores, more than 60 cafes and restaurants, a large cinema and a huge playground for children.
Yas Island is also home to the only links golf course in the Middle East, which is considered one of the best courses in the world. You will also find several luxury hotels on the island, including the W Abu Dhabi, an incredible 5-star hotel overlooking the F1 circuit.
At the Clymb Adventure Center, you can enjoy a unique climbing and skydiving experience. It is home to the world's highest indoor climbing wall and the world's largest indoor skydiving facility.
Yas Beach, which lies to the south of the island, is the perfect place to enjoy the Abu Dhabi sunshine by the sea. Similar in style to Dubai's beaches, this vast expanse of fine golden sand is easily accessible 🙂 It also features an infinity pool, and you can find several bars and restaurants nearby.
